ABUJA – The Young Democratic Party, YDP, yesterday, vowed to seek every legal means to ensure the total cancellation of the just concluded governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States over alleged wrong use of its logo on the ballot papers by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The National Publicity Secretary of UDP, Idris Usman, YDP said in a statement issued in Abuja, said the YDP would push for the annulment of the elections in the two states which were supposedly won by candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to the statement, “The Young Democratic Party, YDP, has concluded plans to ensure we pursue in court, the cancellation of Edo and Ondo election for justice to be established and ensured that the section of electorates which were denied the right to carry out their civic responsibility is resolved,” Usman said in the statement.
“This is because, just like last Edo State gubernatorial election, the logo of YDP was wrongly used by INEC in the ballot paper of the just concluded elections in Ondo state.
This confused our supporters. It’s time we stop playing lips service to rightful inclusion of younger generation in governance,” the party said.
YDP said the #NotTooYoungToContest should be seen as the way to go by providing enabling ground for all irrespective of the financial statues of the party.
“We therefore call on all well meaning Nigerians, especially the young generation to join in this process so that justice can be done to the discriminated sector of the society”.
