Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, said on Saturday that his government had made provisions in its 2017 budget for the purchase of drones as part of efforts to tackle security challenges in the state.
The governor said when acquired, the gadgets would boost the activities of security operatives in the state.
El-Rufai stated this through his deputy, Mr. Barnabas Yusuf-Bala, who represented him at the presentation of ‘A Child of Destiny, ‘a biography of Ufuwai Bonet, the Chief of Kagoro, in the Kauru Local Government Area of the state.
He explained that the southern part of the state had witnessed series of attacks by suspected Fulani Herdsmen while people in the northern part had also in the past, suffered from the activities of cattle rustlers.
The governor added that kidnappers were also perpetrating their criminal activities along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.
He, however, assured residents of the state that such activities would be curbed when his administration acquired the security gadgets.
