A senior legislative aide, Mr. Abubakar Sani-Doki, died at the National Assembly premises on Monday, arising from unknown health complications.
Investigations showed that he was engaged by the Office of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yussuff Lasun.
Findings showed that he died in the morning shortly after he arrived the premises.
The late aide was said to have been ill for a while and came to the National Assembly on Monday primarily to use the services of the National Assembly clinic.
The clinic was said to have referred him to the National Hospital, Abuja.
However, his condition suddenly worsened and he reportedly slumped and died before an ambulance could move him out of the premises.
“He did not make it. As soon as he came to the premises, his situation became worse.
“He died suddenly even before he could get out of the premises,” an official said.
Sani-Doki hailed from Bangudu in Zamfara State.
Earlier reports had indicated that he was an aide to the Chairman, House Committee on Finance, Mr. Babangida Ibrahim.
The PUNCH later learnt that Sani-Doki was Ibrahim’s friend and a member of Lasun’s staff.
Lasun’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Wole Oladimeji, claimed he was not aware that the deceased worked with his boss.
However, a top official in the Deputy Speaker’s office confided in The PUNCH that Sani-Doki worked in Lasun’s office.
“Oh yes, Abubakar Sani-Doki; he worked with the DS (Deputy Speaker),” he said.
The PUNCH gathered that Sani-Doki would be buried after a funeral service at the Abuja National Mosque on Monday (yesterday) by 4pm.
