The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State in November 26 governorship election, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu has stated that, if elected to power, he would show good governance to the people of the state.
Akeredolu said he would not involve in any programme that would be anti-people in the office, adding that he had passion to serve the people of the state.
A former President of Nigeria Bar Association said this while speaking with journalists on Saturday evening in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
He said,” This state is what matters to us, some of us have come into politics not because we have nothing to do. We have come to show what I call good governance. The tenets of democracy and rule of law would be my watchwords.
“Some of us, we have been leaders before now. This is just an opportunity for us to serve the people of this state,”
He expressed his displeasure over anti-party activities of some APC members in the state who were allegedly supporting another political party and candidate for the November poll.
He however said he had begun reconciliation moves to ensure that all APC members in the state work in unity in order to achieve victory in the forthcoming election
“Now that we have one party, we have one candidate, I believe we should have one voice and we will fight for the people of this state. We will run a state where the welfare of the civil servants will be top priority. We cannot compromise it.” Akeredolu stressed.
He also assured civil servants in the state of better welfare packages saying, ” from the day we come in, we will not owe salaries. We might not be able to pay arrears right away. It will soon be a thing of the past that we will ever owe salary. It will soon be a thing of the past that most civil servants are almost never paid leave allowances.”
